When Off-Road Stunting Doesn’t Go As Planned: Video

Go big, or go home – that’s the motto of anyone looking for vehicular Internet fame, something that off-roading champion R.J. Anderson knows all too well. The California native’s latest gig was behind the wheel of a heavily modified which was meticulously customized for a starring role in UTV Underground’s XP1K3 video, a high-flying, dirt-slinging spectacle that pits man and machine set against a series of high-octane stunts. But as you might imagine, there’s another side to the flawless clips seamlessly strung together in the final edit, and this is it.

First things first – Anderson is no scrub. His family has strong ties to the world of off-road racing, and he has multiple championship titles to his name. His father was also a racer, not to mention crew chief for “the Legend,” Walker Evans. Long story short, the man knows how to handle a power slide or two.

The machine at Anderson’s command is equally impressive. The suspension was upgraded with new A-arms, trailing arms, and sway bars from Holz Racing, plus shocks from Walker Evans Racing. The tires are from BFGoodrich, and the 1.1-liter engine spits out a heady 200 horsepower thanks to Muzzys Performance and K&T Performance.

But even with decades of experience and the best equipment in the world, things can get messy, and it’s at those times you find justification for the helmet and metal cage. Hit play for six minutes and 40 seconds of impromptu mechanical abuse.
